Positive Youth Development is a framework that emphasizes relationships as a protective factor that leads to positive outcomes for young people.
DAET uses the Search Institute’s Developmental Assets & Developmental Relationships frameworks to inform our strategies to build assets in young people and strengthen the caring relationships between adults and youth in our community that help to promote healthy youth outcomes.
The 40 Developmental Assets are research-based, positive experiences & qualities that influence a young person’s development, helping them become caring, responsible, and productive adults. The more positive experiences a young person has, the more likely they are to succeed developmentally.
Developmental Relationships build on the Search Institute’s signature Developmental Assets framework & provide a tool for putting into practice the core asset-building message: Assets are primarily built through relationships. The framework focuses on how each relationship in a young person’s life can be strengthened through 5 Elements & 20 Actions.
